Masu speaks at World University Presidents Forum

In his keynote, Masu described Tokyo Tech's collaboration with DUT. In 2007, Tokyo Tech and DUT's School of Materials Science and Engineering jointly launched a materials science course, taught in Japanese, at DUT. The course, which enrolls about 30 students a year, was enhanced to offer a new 3+2-type program option from 2018. Top students in the course now have the opportunity to take examinations to transfer to Tokyo Tech in their third year of undergraduate study, enabling them to complete their bachelor's degrees at the Institute.

At a panel discussion at the forum, Masu commented, "For international exchanges between universities, faculty-level exchanges are crucial. By exposing students to activities like international academic conferences and day-to-day collaborations on a steady basis, universities can foster students' development as internationally competitive professionals."

Masu also attended DUT's 70th anniversary ceremony as a special guest. In a courtesy call, he and DUT President Dongming Guo discussed collaborations between the two universities.

While in Dalian, Masu also interacted with members of the North East China Tokyo Tech Alumni Association. In a networking event organized by the alumni association and attended by both alumni and students from the materials science course, the Tokyo Tech president described recent initiatives at the Institute and was briefed on the alumni association's activities.
